PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Bob Rolfe

Dear fellow members:

Where does the time go? April found many of our club members participating in activities such as Eckler's Springfest, Vettes at the Port, Pleasure Island Displays and The Gathering VII in Savannah.

Our meetings have been a good source of brainstorming, sharing ideas, and planning of upcoming events, it is no wonder we are such an active club. There is so much to choose from, you can see why we need each one of us to be involved in helping in some way. There are many events being planned over the coming months and volunteers are working behind the scenes to pull them together. Please pick up the phone or e-mail that chairperson and see if there is something you can do to help, and then be sure to come out and support their efforts.

One of the events that is new for us and is just taking shape involves having three Corvettes on display at Pleasure Island every Friday and Saturday night. This is a good venue to raise money for the club and will benefit each one of us. With as many Corvettes that are in the club, we all should be able to take turns participating. This is open to all models. Arch Simonson is our chairperson on this event; please contact him.

Mark your calendars for May 2nd at 1:00 PM, as we have our second planning meeting at the home of Hutch and Patti to discuss the organization and details for the "Roger's Cruz-in" to be held this October 30th. Last year we had 90 Corvettes and this year we want to see that increase. There will be an auction, judged show, and other ways to raise money, all for the Russell Home. It will take many hands involved to pull this event off this year. We are planning on it being bigger and better. Roger, CFCA and the kids at the Russell home are counting on each of us to lend a hand, to have a part. Many have stepped forward, but we need more help. It will take the team of CFCA to put this together. If you haven't already stepped up to the plate, please do so, we need you now.

Jon Gardner has planned a Corvette Drive Fun Rally for May 16th. If you have never been on one of Jon's drives, you're in for a treat. Be sure to set aside this time and be prepared for a wonderful day.

On May 22nd we will have our Anniversary party. Don and Betty Ashe have graciously offered for the club to come out to the park near their home outside of Geneva, FL. Don is buying a variety of meat and will be smoking it for our enjoyment. Contact our Chairpersons and volunteers to see how you can help and let them know what you can bring to this picnic.

There are more events in the planning stages, including a Mystery tour in June, and a 4th of July parade and car show. And would you believe there are already plans going on now for this Fall and the Christmas party. Oh, and pretty soon it will be time to start talking about homecomings. Like I said, where does the time go?

There are so many of our fellow club members working on projects and events behind the scenes. Each one of them plays an important part in making this club keep working and each person volunteering their time and talents. And each and every one of you is what makes CFCA the outstanding club of Corvette enthusiasts that we are. It is a privilege to serve each and every one of you this year as your president. You make it a joy to be involved. Thank you!

Warmest wishes,

Bob

Hello, everyone,

I am happy to announce that our club continues to grow. Please join me in welcoming our newest members. William and Linda Sanders, and Mark and Joann Pfenning. William and Linda are long time NCCC members, but have recently located to Central Florida and have transferred their membership to CFCA. William and Linda are driving a 1992 Blue coupe. Mark and Joann are new to NCCC, and are driving a 1995 Admiral Blue coupe. Please make sure to welcome these folks to our club at your first opportunity. Our club membership now stands at 132 members.

I would also like to take time to thank Don and Betty Ashe for offering to host our club's Anniversary party this year, and I urge everyone to attend. Those of you who have been fortunate enough to attend previous events hosted by Don and Betty already know what great times we have had; for those new members, I can only promise you that you will be glad you attended.

If you have any questions regarding your membership please let me know. And remember to let all those other Corvette folks you run into (not literally) know about CFCA. Being a member just makes owning a Corvette that much better.

GOVERNOR'S REPORT
Ray Dettore

Hi there!

Welcome to the month of May! The month of May brings us a very special day for all of you Mothers. So, Sons and Daughters, don't forget your Mother on Mothers' Day, May 9th.

Recently, Disney's Pleasure Island (PI) has asked our club to bring out three Corvettes on Friday and Saturday nights to help promote the fun atmosphere at PI. By the way, this is a great way for us to raise money for our club. On Saturday night, we parked right in front of the main entrance of PI. As I was standing there, watching the tourists and some locals go by, I, again, began to realize how proud I was to own one of the finest cars in the world today. I watched people stop in their tracks to look at the cars. It was fun to listen to the people trying to guess the years of the cars. Some people would say "Some day, I'll have one," while others would say, "I want one so bad, but my wife won't let me have one." There are ways to fix that! No, not a divorce, just buy her a big old diamond ring. Or tell her you are going to get a motorcycle if she doesn't let you get a Corvette. Or do both, like I did.

Anyhow, people came by to compliment how well the cars look, even though I know every scratch and imperfection on my car. It just goes to show you that, sometimes, we don't see the big picture; we ARE proud owners of the best darn sports car in the world! Except for maybe, a Lamborghini Murcielago or the Ferrari Enzo. Well, they are Italian you know! But who can afford one?

So, be proud, and enjoy your car that so many other people envy and wish they could have one. This is another good reason why we belong to the NCCC. If we did not have the insurance that NCCC provides, we would not be able to participate in this event. Other car clubs were asked to participate, but are having a hard time coming up with the proper insurance for Walt Disney World.

For those of you that are looking for something to do next month, don't forget about the NCCC National Convention in Las Vegas June 5th thru 11th.

C-ya soon and God bless,

Ray

Hello All!

Another month has passed. Hope you had a really nice Easter. It was beautiful that day. The rain held off until later in the evening, and then what a downpour for some of us. Most of the weather since then has been terrific and at least the pollen "snow fall" has slowed down to a sprinkle.

Two weekends ago, a few of us journeyed to the Corvette show on Tybee Island in Georgia. I know Patty was looking forward to the beach, the sun, working on her tan, and of course the "Outlet Malls" that she had heard about. The weather was wonderful.

We have a few good events planed for May. To start off with, we have the "Corvettes on the Circle" at St Armand Circle in Sarasota on May 1st. The following week, May 8th, we travel to the Ft. Pierce Marina & Waterfront Complex for the "Corvette River Cruise-In."

To close out the month, we have the "NCM Gathering" from the 13th to the 16th, and finally the "GREAT CFCA ROAD RALLY" on Sunday the 16th of May. One of our own (Jon Gardner) will host this exciting event. You won't want to miss it! We will be meeting at the Roadhouse restaurant located at Orange Avenue and Michigan at 9:00 AM. (This is one of BJ's "Fun Pick" recommendations.)

At our last CFCA meeting in April, you may have heard Arch and Bill talking about June's big event, the "Mystery Cruise". It will be held on June 5th. As Bill described it, we start out here, then we go here, then we go back there, back to here and maybe end up somewhere over here (are you dizzy yet???). Anyway, keep your day open, as this will be a fun event (this is another one of BJ's "Fun Pick" recommendations).

Also, keep voicing those suggestions and ideas for upcoming fun events. Special thanks to Tom for suggesting a "drive-in movie night" and thanks to Kerry for suggesting an Air Boat Ride event.

Have a great month! Keep your eyes on the Road and on the web site.

Later,

BJ

HISTORIC FLINT BRICKS

Flyers detailing the specifics of the "Historic Flint Brick" program have been mailed out to all NCM members and supporters. These collectible pieces of Corvette history are from the GM Corvette Assembly Plant in Flint, Michigan, which was demolished in 2003. The bricks were donated by Chevrolet to the Museum to use as a fundraiser. The preserved bricks - historic pieces of the 1953 Corvette's heritage - have been cleaned and are now available for Corvette enthusiasts to own. Bricks are commemorated with an engraved plate featuring a 4-digit number that you can select or you may place an order for a Museum assigned number. A certificate of authenticity also accompanies each brick.

If you did not receive a flyer and would like more information, please contact the NCM at (800) 53-VETTE or visit: https://www.corvettemuseum.com/flint-bricks/.
