PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Bob Rolfe

Dear fellow CFCA members:

Wow, last year was full of activity and fun as we all celebrated our 30th anniversary as a club. The wonderful leadership of this club under Lisa and previous Board members has made for some big shoes to fill. In addition, CFCA's success has been because members were willing to get involved. No organization, business, or relationship can last this long without the dedication and commitment of its people. Each one of us has skills and qualities that make us unique parts of the club, making us who we are today.

I look forward to serving you as President for the next two years along with many new members of the Board. Many of you have been asking me what we are going to be doing, what ideas I have for the club. Well, I'm a member just like you, and as your President I am here to serve you. Sure, I have a vision to see our club continue to grow, oh, not just in numbers, but, most importantly, by the continued building of relationships and teamwork.

So I am counting on you to be involved, to volunteer an idea and yourself….we need your skills and your knowledge. What do you want to do? How do you see our direction as a club? What ideas do you have? There are things that have been tried before and ideas that haven't been tried. No idea is too far fetched.

Let's share our passion of the Corvette with others. Through events like "Wash & Shines", auto crossing, Concours events, club photos, parades and homecomings, the Russell Home, or just getting lost together on a drive in the countryside and ending up at some burger joint. It is all about who we are as Corvette owners.

I have to share a quick story with you….. You know what drew Joyce and I to this club? We had just bought our first Corvette, a '95, and didn't know a thing about it. We had fallen "in love" with it's look. The week after we bought it we heard about CFCA through a club member that we met while shopping at Eckler's. They invited us to come to the next "get together" which happened to be a party at the home of Don and Betty Ashe. Many of you were there and took the time to make us feel at home; you shared your passion and knowledge answering any questions we had about our '95, and we joined on the spot! That was 5 years ago……. Someone took the time to share their passion with us; we are now doing the same.

Ok, there it is… my first letter to you as President. So, as your President, let me encourage you to do the following in 2004. (After all it is time for New Year's resolutions). Allow me to suggest the following: Volunteer your time, knowledge and skills with CFCA, share your passion for the Corvette with others, and be sure and support those who support our club. Oh, and "Save the Wave"!

Warmest wishes for a safe and Happy New Year,

Bob

GOVERNOR'S REPORT
Ray Dettore

Welcome to the year 2004, the year of the new C6!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. As we begin this New Year, I would like to welcome our new board members, Bob Rolfe (President), Joyce Rolfe (Secretary), and Gary Showe (Membership Director). I do not want to forget about our new Newsletter editor, Mark Gustetter. Keep up the good work Mark (aw, Ray just wants to see more photos of him winning trophies. Ed.)! We are looking forward to a fun and exciting year from our new board members. Please remember that it takes more then just a Board of Directors to make this a great club; it takes all of us to get involved!

I would like to take this time and personally thank the previous board members that have gone above and beyond the call of duty:

If it was not for their dedication and commitment to our club, CFCA would not be the best Corvette club in the country. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And don't forget about the NCCC National Convention in Las Vegas coming in June.

C-ya Soon!

COMPETITION REPORT

Good Day, All!

Well, "HAPPY NEW YEAR." I want to start out by saying "Thank-You" for your support in 2003. Thanks to Lisa, Becky and Joan for your support during the meetings. In case you couldn't tell, as a new board member, I was very nervous having to talk in front of everyone.

For the new Board members, Bob, Joyce and Gary, CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS for stepping up to the plate. I'm looking forward to working with you and continuing to work with Ray. I think 2004 will be a good year.

First, I want to recap December. On Saturday, December 6th, we had our Christmas Party and Awards Banquet. What a great turnout! There was great food, lots of door prizes and a wonderful DJ. The DJ even brought a karaoke machine and, boy, did Hutch put it to the test. If you missed it, I think it was the event of the year; maybe someone did a video of it.

Moving on, we also had the Cypress Gardens NCCC Corvette Show. The following week, Sunday the 14th, we had our annual visit to the Russell Home. It was a little wet that day, but still enjoyable. This event personally starts the true Christmas Season for Patty and me. The trip to the Russell Home is heartwarming. To see all those wrapped gifts, the joy on the children's faces when they see Santa, it's so precious. Watching them unwrap their gifts and singing Christmas carols touches your heart. Sometimes it's hard to hold back tears. Again, going to the Russell Home is the start of Christmas. By the time you read this article, Christmas will be history. I hope that everyone had a wonderful and joyful time, and that Santa was good to you.

Looking into the New Year:

January: Starting on January 21 - 25 is the 26th Annual NCRS Winter Regional Meet at Old Town. On Sunday the 25th, we have the Wonderful World of Corvettes show, sponsored by Classic Corvettes. Saturday the 24th is Eckler's Speed Training at Sebring.

February: Reflections in Glass will be held on Saturday the 7th. If you have not sent in your registration, you need to do so. This show quickly fills up; it may already be too late.

March: One of the most important events will be held on the Saturday the 20th. This is the Cruisers for Kids Car Show. The proceeds help the Russell Home, so please show your support by registering for this event today. My goal is to have over 100 Corvettes present.

More future events to keep in mind are:

April 23rd - 25th, the Coastal Corvette Association presents the "Gathering VII" Car Show in Savannah. This is a new adventure for us. I'm planning on going. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

October 30th will be Roger's Cruz'In 2004. Again we are looking for volunteers. This year's show was such a success, let's do it again.

For additional show Information and registration forms, please check the web site. Have a wonderful and a safe New Year.

Keep your eyes on the road and the web site.

Later,

BJ

National Corvette Museum NEWS

NCM BUILDING CAMPAIGN MAKES PROGRESS

Over $310,000 in donations and pledges has been raised to date for the building campaign. The NCM greatly appreciates the generosity of everyone who has worked to help us get closer to the campaign goals. The first phase, "Building For Corvette's Next 50 Years", ended December 31, 2003. The next phase, "Going to Bat for the NCM", began January 1 and runs through June 30, 2004. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.

The National Corvette Museum's building campaign plans were unveiled as part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration activities in June. During the event, over $170,000 was raised towards the $6 million campaign that is expected to be complete within the next two to three years. Campaign gifts and a scale model of the building plans were on display to showcase the addition.

The 60,000 square foot building addition will provide space for an exhibition and banquet hall, a dedicated delivery area, shipping and receiving area for the Corvette Store, and additional offices and storage space and will provide the opportunity to expand the Hall of Fame, Library, and Archives. Find out more about the building campaign and view the campaign incentive gifts at: www.corvettemuseum.com/building/index.shtml.

The NCM will celebrate its 10th Anniversary this year. If you're not currently an NCM Member, please consider becoming one and help preserve the Corvette legacy for future generations of enthusiasts!
