PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Hello Everyone,
MEMBERSHIP REPORT
Hello everyone,
Save The Wave!
GOVERNOR'S REPORT
Hey gang,
Jon
COMPETITION REPORT
Yep, without a doubt, it must be October. Certainly the fall, and especially, October, is the busiest time of the year for Central Florida Corvette enthusiasts and even more so for CFCA members. The combination of a big Corvette show every weekend plus Homecoming parades and other events makes October loads of fun yet hectic at the same time.

The year has really gone by quickly. By the time you get this one of the busiest months we have had will be in the history books. I hope everyone had a chance to go to one or more events. Since the year is now winding down and we are all getting ready for the holidays, I will make this report a short one.
This month we will be electing a new board and renewals are due. Please try and get your information and renewal check to Joan as soon as you can. I'm sure there will be more information and the deadline date in Joan's report, so please check it out.
When we vote in the new board, we also need to vote on member of the year. This is always fun because the result is only revealed at the Christmas party. Come out to the second meeting in November and place your vote.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the present board members, webmasters, chairpersons and newsletter editor for all of their dedicated service this year. Your hard work and patience have been fully exasperated and very much appreciated!
Everyone have a safe holiday and see you at one of the events this month!
Our website, www.cfca.net, is out there for all of you to enjoy. It's become a major part of our clubs membership and one easy way to get the word out. Hutch, Gary & Joe have done a great job! Remember to send in your pictures to so they can update the web page and sign up for the new CFCA forum. If you don't know your password or user ID, give one of these fine gentlemen a call.
Until next month…
Save the Wave,
Lisa

Renewals are going well. Please remember the deadline for renewals is Wednesday, November 13th. If I don't have your renewal form and check by the 13th and you still want to be a member, you will need to re-join at a higher rate.
Please join me in welcoming our newest members to CFCA. Eric and Tracy, our friends from Scotland flew across the pond and met us in the Keys and for some crazy reason decided to join!!! Hopefully we will see them again next June for the Corvette's 50th birthday.
We had a great time and a fantastic membership turnout for the Corvettes in Paradise car show this year in Islamorada. More details will come in the December newsletter but for now, I will tell you that CFCA had over 35 members there and we took home 16 trophies! Two of the trophies nearest and dearest to my heart are the Club Participation Award for the Display show and the Club Participation Award for the Judged show. Way to go everyone!! Keep an eye on the website for the multitude of pictures to pop up. Several members had cameras clicking away and some of the pictures are very entertaining - trust me!
You will find the 2003 Ballot in this newsletter. Voting will take place at our second meeting in November (the 21st.). If you cannot make this meeting, please email your ballot to Patti Hutchinson before November 20th. Patti's email is on the ballot.
Hope to see you all at the Christmas Party! See you down the road...

Having gone to the National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC), Florida Region Meeting on October 6th, I have information to pass along again. As I have said before, sometimes it gets to be a long time between info gathering sessions.
Its that time of the year again where the NCCC is trying to elect our national officers, and each club Governor has been given ballots to cast for the various officer choices. As in years past, I will cast the vote for our club based on information provided by our Region officers or on performance records of the individuals, as I know them. Anyhow, of the five vacancies, three of the candidates are running unopposed. Other matters that are being voted upon are several bylaw changes in addition to selecting the 2004 National Convention site.
Bids for the 2004 convention have been received from the Mid-West Region and the Roadrunner Region. The Mid-West Region site is in St. Cloud, Minnesota scheduled for July 24-30, 2004. The Roadrunner Region has proposed Las Vegas, Nevada for June 5-11, 2004. Whereas, I must have these ballots returned by mail October 31, 2002 we will have already voted on them by the time most of you read this. Anyhow, while Las Vegas seems to me to be a clear winner, I suspect that the "racers" around the country will select St. Cloud Minnesota. But, I may be wrong.
Most of the bylaw items are slight wordsmithing changes such as… to be a member of the NCCC, one must be actual owners or operators of Corvettes and be a member in good standing of a recognized club, rather than an occasional driver of perhaps a Corvette belonging to someone else. Another change deals with Spouse Members. Essentially, primary members can have only one spouse/companion member at a time. I'm not making this up folks. Yet another change provides that no elected national officer shall also hold an appointed position. All, important changes as the NCCC board tries to fine-tune our guiding bylaws document.
Next. During our upcoming meetings you will hear Joan Wollenhaupt beg you for your renewal information. Please understand that we need to have all renewal information in the hands of our Regional Membership Director by November 25th. Please help her out, remember it's more expensive for you if you miss Joan's deadline. She has paperwork that must be in to the national club network, and of course needs time to compile this and still have time for the post office to do their work. Please Help Joan out. Besides, we like to think we are a good group to party with. Also, remember that all 2003 members will receive the 50th Corvette Anniversary membership patch from NCCC. Neat!
Other news. NCCC continues to work on fine-tuning the competition rule book. Combining autocross car classes continues to be debated. Two and three car classes cost the sanctioning clubs money in awards. One thought is that maybe fewer points can be awarded for one and two car classes than those having more cars. Also, doing away with travel and bonus points is being considered. In other words, award championship points strictly on accomplishments gained in actual competition. Let the "best competitors" in the various events be the deciding factor for winning the gold. Another debate continues on creating a separate class for Z06 cars. In spite of the overwhelming evidence that these cars are so much superior to their more standard C5 brethren (in performance capability), for some reason this idea continues to be rejected by the competition committee.
One disappointing note is that NCCC is looking for a new Blue Bars (the official NCCC Magazine) editor. The December issue will be the last for our current editor. Just when NCCC has started to finally put together a decent Blue Bars Magazine we have to start all over again. Maybe with a little luck, we'll get another good volunteer.
One happy and encouraging note. Just as reported to you last time, the NCCC has indeed donated over $120,000 to the National Kidney Foundation. Accolades go out to all of us for being able to contribute this kind of money to our national charity.
Don't give up on me now folks we have more. Word is that the last National Convention will perhaps be a winner. However don't tell that to some of those that entered the "Fun Rally". This event was reported to be almost 8 ½ hours long. Those that participated said it was the event from Hell. So much for the "Fun" part.
No matter how much NCCC tries, they can't seem to make much headway with the new Credit Card Program. They have had only 99 applications. Only 83 have been accepted. Wow!
One last comment. NCCC wants to be thought of as a premier Corvette Organization, but still refuses to purchase a Business Membership in the National Corvette Museum ($2,500 "one time"). They are allowing however, affiliated individual clubs to donate dollars that will be used to purchase this membership in the NCCC name. Shameful. My message to them… Step up to the plate folks, be the organization you purport to be.

And as November rolls around, it doesn't slow down much then either. What with our annual trek to the Keys for Corvettes in Paradise in Islamorada, the Silver Springs Corvette Show, the big Turkey Rod Run swap meet in Daytona, and other shows and events, you still won't get much time to rest. But you know we wouldn't have it any other way. While much of the rest of the country has already put their Corvettes to bed for the long, cold winter, we are enjoying some lovely top down cruising days and a restful respite from Florida's relentless summer heat. Trying to do everything can wear you out (like Patti says: "Please don't make me have any more fun this weekend.") but we do hope to see you at many of our upcoming events. Its a great time of year to get out and enjoy your Corvette.
Octobervettes was huge this year with over 450 Corvettes in attendance. CFCA got there a "tad" early this year which assured us a great parking spot at the cost of too little sleep. Congratulations to Kerry Woll and Rich Calipetro for their awards in the big Eckler's 23rd Annual Reunion show in October. Patti and I also won a class award and "Best Paint" for our Z06 (thanks to Burke Corvettes and Mike Martin). As I write this, Roger's Cruise-In will take place tomorrow with proceeds to benefit the Russell Home for Atypical Children and our Drive-Out to DeLeon Springs and scenic Daytona cruise will follow the next day.
A handful of CFCA members have been going "above and beyond" the call of duty to support our annual Homecoming and Holiday Parades which are our primary fund raisers for the Russell Home. Some say we over committed ourselves this year but with a club of our size, it should be no problem to come up with a dozen or more DIFFERENT Corvettes for each event. Please volunteer to support CFCA's various fundraisers to help those less fortunate.
The time for nominations for CFCA's 2003 Board of Directors is quickly coming to a close. The current board has done a great job but its time for some new blood! Please give serious thought towards accepting a nomination for any board position. You may nominate yourself or others by contacting the Nominations Committee Chairperson, Patti Hutchinson via email at vettevixen@yahoo.com.
But right now you'll have to excuse me, as I have to go pack for Islamorada! I'm sure if I toss out some of Patti's stuff, I can get one more case of Corona in there!!! :)
Each club event needs a chairperson to help organize it so why not volunteer? And if you have an idea for a future CFCA event, please pass along your suggestions to me or any other Board Member.
CFCA awards active participation in club events by presenting awards at our annual Christmas Party based on total points earned throughout the year (2002 points competition ends October 31st). See the Members Only section of the web site for current points standings. Note: Board Members do not compete with the regular membership for CFCA points.
Remember... keep the shiny side up!!!
