PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Lisa Lafferty

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone is enjoying the events we have had this year. The detailing seminar was a big hit. If you missed it, Mike from Lusso will be back to help us out at Roger's Cruise-In on the 26th. Come out and see how you can improve the shine on your Corvette. And speaking of paint, I want to thank Tim Burke, from Burke's Corvettes for the tremendous job he did on my car after my little mishap. He didn't even laugh too much when I told him what I did! Thanks Tim and Martin, you've been so good to me!

I know when you read this newsletter, just like all the others, please review the events calendar and come out and join us for a day. This month is the busiest month we will have this year. So no excuses! I got a chance to meet so many new members at the Lusso detailing seminar. It was great to see you all there. And I know there are so many I still haven't had the pleasure of meeting. Come on and check it out.

Homecomings are in full swing this month. Remember, this is how we secure income for the club's operating expenses and raise money for Mrs. Russell.. We can't do it without you. For all of our new members, we usually go somewhere for a bite to eat after each homecoming. There is always food involved when we do anything! So come out, and again, this is supposed to be fun! Come show off your Corvette in front of that crowd of proud parents and friends. The cars always look so great under those big, bright lights! And on the members-only Forum there is some information on what you might need to bring to a homecoming or parade. If you're not online, just give me a call.

Our website, www.cfca.net, is out there for all of you to enjoy. It's become a major part of our clubs membership and one easy way to get the word out. Hutch, Gary & Joe have done a great job! Remember to send in your pictures to so they can update the web page and sign up for the new CFCA forum.

Until next month…

Save the Wave,
Lisa

MEMBERSHIP REPORT
Joan Wollenhaupt

Hello CFCA Members!

We had no new members join CFCA last month so our membership count remains at 174. Renewals are underway for 2003. If you wish to renew, please fill out the form on the last page of this newsletter and mail it along with your check to me or bring it to an upcoming meeting. We have also posted the renewal form on the CFCA Forum under Membership Q & A.

As Charity Chairperson, I would like to extend a challenge to all of our members. Homecoming season is upon us and CFCA needs your help! If you have never participated in a homecoming, make this year YOUR year. To those of you who have already signed up to help, THANK YOU so much !!!

Homecomings are fun and they are how we raise money for our charity, The Russell Home for Atypical Children in Orlando. The guys and gals in the "homecoming court" that we drive around the track are so appreciative and great. They usually ask a multitude of questions about the car and thank us for our time. Usually after a homecoming, we find a place to eat. (no surprise there, right?)

If you have questions about what a homecoming entails, please visit the Members Only section of our website. On the FAQ section under "fundraisers" and on the CFCA Forum under CFCA Events we have hopefully answered any question you might have on homecomings and if we haven't, you can ask Pat G. or Arlene P. our homecoming coordinators.

We have a good amount of homecomings to do this month & next, and the success of them depends on you. Sign up for as many as you can. The High Schools will thank you, CFCA will thank you and most of all, Mrs. Russell will thank you.

Save The Wave!

GOVERNOR'S REPORT
Jon Gardner

As club Governor, I am required each month to write a few words to keep everyone abreast of the National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC) governmental happenings. Not competition events, but those goings-on in the workings within the NCCC machine. Darn, this is tough. The last Florida Region meeting, the meeting that keeps us informed on the transactions on the national level, was held on June 9th. I have already milked information from that meeting for all its worth. Now, since NCCC has finally got a good grip on the approved helmets that the racers will use at autocrosses, there is just not any new bits of information to pass along. What helps a lot is that the NCCC finally has a very good Blue Bars editor and worthwhile NCCC news is disseminated very nicely from that source. This is why on so many occasions that I report ("No Report") at our club meetings.

Our next NCCC Regional meeting will be held on the 6th of October at the Hyatt in Kissimmee on SR 192 just east of I-4. So, feel free to come on out if you have a desire to learn the inside scoop before the rest of the crowd.

Actually, the Governor's job is pretty easy and is an important part of an NCCC club. The job comes open for next year, so talk with either Patti Hutchinson (Nomination Committee) or me if you have any interest in the possibilities. You'll have a lot of support from good people if it's something you want to do.

Now something really important, on the 29th of December, we're (CFCA) going to hold our Fun Rally. For the uninitiated, these events are supposed to be fun and most of the time they usually are. At the beginning of these events each car (having both a driver and navigator) is given a list of instructions and clues to aid them in finding their way along a prescribed route to some end point. At the end point there will be trophies for those who have followed the route most faithfully and "beer" for those that for some inexplicable reason did not (this is usually the "navigator's" fault…and never the driver's fault for driving too fast or their inability to listen correctly). Anyhow, when you get a lot of cars out for these events and happen to catch a pretty day, it is fun. I'm trying to find a route we haven't used so much before, and an end point that is new. So…mark it on your calendar and plan on having a little fun driving your Corvette.

As usual, if you have a question about CFCA, please grab me by the collar at one of our meetings or events. One last thing, please help out with our homecoming schedule. Help CFCA make Mrs. Russell and her kids' Christmas.

Jon
Your Governor, Jon Gardner

COMPETITION REPORT
John "Hutch" Hutchinson

By the time you read this, September will have come and gone and while the weather in Central Florida may be cooling down just a bit, nothing could be further from the truth as far as Corvette activities are concerned!

September was fun with the PROFESSIONAL DETAILING TECH SESSION at Roger's Corvette Center and ICE SKATING at the RDV. And even though our DRAG RACING event was rained out, we still had fun at the LINDY'S OPEN CAR SHOW and some entered (and won!) at the NCCC CONCOURS in Lakeland and joined in on the fun at the CORVETTE CELEBRATION or Z06 FEST at the National Corvette Museum. But October is another story altogether! October is always a very busy time of year for Corvette enthusiasts and this year is certainly no different with 3 major shows and lots of smaller events going on.

First up on Saturday, October 12th, is OCTOBERVETTES at Old Town in Kissimmee. This long running event has become a tradition in Central Florida and for good reason… where else can you gather in such a neat setting, view over 400 Corvettes from all around the state (and beyond), get a dash plaque, attend a party the night before, and watch some crazy valve cover races all for FREE! The only downside is that you must get there early… CFCA meets at the Winn Dixie parking lot in Hunters Creek at 5:30 AM to depart at 6:00.

Next up is ECKLER'S 23rd ANNUAL REUNION on Saturday, the 19th. An absolute blast, the event features a huge car show, swap meet, vendor area, seminars, and much more. CFCA meets at the parking lot next to Krystals on Colonial (Hwy 50) and Rouse Road at 7:30 AM to depart at 8:00 AM. If you are entering your car in the show, you might want to get over to Titusville a bit earlier.

Also in October, on Saturday the 26th is ROGER'S CRUISE-IN at Roger's Corvette Center, 8675 N. Orlando Avenue in Maitland. This event promises to be loads of fun featuring a peoples choice car show (no pressure here, folks!), great food, dash plaque, t-shirt, and scads of great door prizes and auction items. Proceeds go to benefit the Russell Home for Atypical Children. Register now by visiting Roger's web site at http://www.rogerscorvette.com/cruise-in/ for all the details. We need volunteers, too. See Hutch for info. The following day on Sunday the 27th is our DRIVE-OUT TO DELEON SPRINGS. Cook-at-your-table pancake breakfast and scenic Daytona cruise (beautiful!). We meet at the Lake Mary rest stop on I-4 eastbound at 7:00 AM to depart at 7:30 AM. Don't miss this one, either!

If you have not yet registered for the CORVETTES IN PARADISE show being held Nov 2nd at Islamorada, Florida Keys, you should do so right away. Read the info online at www.cfca.net/events/keys02.htm or contact Patti Hutchinson, event sponsor, for more details. This event is tremendous fun and should not be missed!

Each club event needs a chairperson to help organize it so why not volunteer? And if you have an idea for a future CFCA event, please pass along your suggestions to me or any other Board Member. And don't forget that now is the time to renew memberships for next year and submit your nominations for next year's Board.

CFCA awards active participation in club events by presenting awards at our annual Christmas Party based on total points earned throughout the year. See the Members Only section of the web site for current points standings. Note: Board Members do not compete with the regular membership for CFCA points.

Remember... keep the shiny side up!!!
